Private alpha target
v0.1 alpha
May 13, 2026
sort v0.1 alpha is private/local-first proof: a desktop organizer that keeps planning conversational, execution explicit, and filesystem changes recoverable.
Highlights
Conversation stays in planning
Scan a messy directory, get multiple proposals, and refine a staged plan in chat before anything touches disk.
A real safety ladder
Dry-run simulation, approve-or-reject action staging, backup preflight checks, and explicit apply make the plan-to-execution boundary visible.
Local reasoning on your machine
Scanning, extraction, proposal generation, and execution stay on-device. On macOS, sort targets Apple Vision for platform OCR evidence and uses Apple Foundation Models for bounded local reasoning over extracted facts.
Recovery is built in
Per-operation journals, undo batches, and startup recovery harden the path from proposal to applied filesystem changes.
What the alpha currently proves
Chat-first planning UI. The desktop flow now centers the conversation, quick replies, context usage, tree diff review, and live scan/apply progress instead of hiding planning behind forms.
Safer execution. sort simulates approved actions before apply, halts on backup failures, journals each operation durably, and keeps undo data available even after interruption.
Clear local inference behavior. Inference health reporting and a degraded-mode banner make offline model issues visible instead of failing silently, while the macOS backend chain stays local.
License path preparation. Activation, account recovery, machine management, offline grace, feature gating, and server-side hardening support the purchase-to-activation path.
Public web hardening. The site exposes proven checkout and download pages while preserving authenticated license routes, rate limits, and Stripe webhook code for the release path.
Release proof preparation. Smoke coverage, recovery docs, platform OCR lane work, and deployment token rotation support the release path without overstating platform coverage.
Looking ahead
This page tracks alpha progress. Public release notes will start from live artifact, checkout, and license proof.
